Marcos Restaurant Review

When we arrived at Marcos there were a few large parties in and several couples. We were offered the choice of either drinks in the cosy lounge area whilst we chose our meal or to be seated at our table. As it was not too busy we opted to go straight to our table.

The restaurant was light and airy with a very warm atmosphere with friendly and attentive members of staff. The main focus of the restaurant being the open kitchen where you could watch the meals being freshly prepared.

We were given menus along with the daily specials list, and our drinks followed soon after. The menu provided a vast selection of delicious dishes, some of which are on the special £4.95 pizza and pasta offer! Available everyday of the week.

Spoilt for choice, we finally decided on our starters. I ordered the Black Pudding special. My partner had the Pollo Fritto.

When the starters arrived, we were certainly not disappointed! My black pudding was crisp and mildly spiced, sat on top of a crispy potato rosti surrounded by a delicious mustard sauce and the pickled vegetables consisted of a selection of crunchy carrots, onions, gherkins and celery. My partner’s Pollo Fritto comprised deep fried chicken strips that were very tender and juicy with generous amounts of sweet mustard dressing and garlic mayonnaise. The starters were simply divine and not too filling.

For our main course I settled on the Special Spaghetti and my partner opted for the Pizza Marcos Supremo.

Once again the food arrived and what a treat! Mine was a very generous portion of fresh spaghetti with prawns and crab meat complemented by a fresh tomato sauce and served with a generous helping of fresh mussels on top. The Pizza
Marcos Supremo for my partner was a very light crispy pizza with tomato and mozzarella base topped with fresh ham, mushrooms, salami, sicillian sausage and onions. Both our main dishes were fresh and tasty and we were both reluctant to leave any food on
our plates!

After our amazing starters and main course it was hard to find room for a dessert. However, we did! l opted for the Affogato al Caffe which was two scoops of deliciously creamy vanilla ice cream, a shot of espresso coffee all topped off with fresh whipped cream and chocolate drop whilst my partner indulged in a very generous portion of Chocolate Fudge Cake with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. Sadly the desserts beat us and we very reluctantly had to leave some!

Our visit to Marcos was an extremely enjoyable one and is a restaurant that we will definitely visit again, either as a couple or with family and friends as there is almost certainly something for all tastes, diets and budgets on the menu.
