Marcos Restaurant Review

Marco’s restaurant was a review I was really looking forward to. The restaurant has been established since 1989 and I have been coming to this gem of a place for many years (since the early nineties would you believe!). However this doesn't stop the delight of entering Marcos time and time again. It is situated on North Road which is one of the main roads into Lancaster and has a car park directly opposite.
On entering the restaurant you immediately feel at ease with the warm greeting and easy chairs to relax into while choosing from the menu. There are plenty of starters available including a variety of vegetarian options. Gessica also brought over the specials and wine menu which had a small description of each wine to help with choosing. There was a separate children’s menu which has been very carefully thought out to include ice cream and a lollipop.
We went through to the hubbub of the restaurant which was very well spaced out and sat down in anticipation of our meals. The most unusual attraction about Marcos is the open kitchen where you can see the chefs working away and you also get an amazing aroma of food.
Due to the fact that it has an open kitchen, the waitresses and waiters are never too far away and the warm lighting makes the atmosphere just right, no need to feel like you have to whisper.
Guiseppe brought our starters over, brushetta topped with lemon flavoured king prawns, garlic and rocket and my partner had smoked mackerel pate served with salad and sliced apple. Both were just the right size portion, my brushetta was crunchy and very tasty, the lemon flavouring enhanced the prawns perfectly. The mackerel pate was delightfully soft and smooth - I know - I couldn't resist having a try.
The main course followed shortly afterwards, I ordered oven baked duck breast in a delicious honey and pine nut sauce served with a separate dish of vegetables. My partner had chosen from the specials menu - fillet of red bream with ratatouille and herb oil and again with vegetables. My duck breast was succulent and was accompanied by crunchy vegetables and my partner’s fillet of red bream was mouthwateringly morish.
We chose to have a look at the dessert menu, again the choice was anything from chocolate to fruit and everything in between. We chose to share the toffee pavlova and for a change chose a coffee liqueur. The pavlova certainly didn't last long as it was absolutely delicious and the same can be said for the French coffee.
Marco’s does cater for all, whether you are on a cosy couple night out or family treat or even a group of friends even dressed up or down.
Whilst I was at Marco’s I was given a sneak preview of the Christmas menu - what a treat diners will be in for!
