L'Amico Restuarant Review

On a beautiful Wednesday night in June we jumped in the car and had a very pleasant drive up to Silverdale to the L'Amico restaurant. The meal was booked for 7 pm and we arrived quarter of an hour early travelling from Bolton-le-Sands, which actually took very little time at all. Parking was easy as there is plenty of space outside.
We walked in to the restaurant where we were met with a smile and warm welcome from Vanessa and we made our way over to the reserved table in the corner. The room is lovely, bright and colourful and we felt immediately at ease. As it was quite a warm night the lovely high ceiling with open windows was perfect to allow the cool air in.
We were offered drinks by our waitress Tabitha who was very friendly and helpful. We had a look at the menu and have to say the choice was mouthwatering. This is a true Italian restaurant and there were some pretty difficult decisions between pasta, steak, fish, poultry and pizzas which are traditionally cooked in the brick oven.
You can choose your starters from either the main menu or the starter specials menu. I chose the melone al Porto, a light fresh starter, juicy melon served in Port which came in a tall glass and my husband chose the flat mushrooms with goats cheese and ham. I must admit I was quite jealous when I saw the mushrooms however the melon in Port was very refreshing.
For the main course we were both drawn to the fish of the day board. On the board there was sea bass, tuna steak, river cobbler and king prawns. I chose the seabass with celery, cherry tomatoes and white wine and my husband decided on the tuna steak, roast peppers, garlic, orange and white wine. The sea bass was really tasty, lovely and light and we also received a generous portion of seasonal vegetables. The tuna steak looked amazing and certainly was.
The restaurant soon started to fill up with couples and families as we moved on to choosing our desserts. Tabitha brought the menu over and we had a choice of Tiramisu, fruits of the forest strudle, chocolate trufito, various ice creams or cheese and biscuits. My husband chose the strudle which he wouldn't normally go for but on this occasion he was glad he did and loved it. I had the chocolate trufito which was chocolate ice cream with a coating of chocolate and a fantastic way to finish the meal.
Whatever you order at L'Amico I am sure you won't be disappointed, the food, atmosphere and service were excellent.
All the food is prepared and cooked to order by Ciro the Italian chef-proprietor who is very passionate about the food he serves and rightly so. Well worth a drive to Silverdale and I think next time I will leave the car at home and try some of the delicious wines on offer.
