Peppered Steaks in beer and garlic

Ingredients:
4 x sirloin or rump steaks, about 6oz each
2 cloves garlic, crushed
120ml/4 fl oz stout or similar beer
2 tablespoons dark muscavado sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon crushed black peppercorns
Method
1. Place steaks in a dish, add garlic, stout, sugar, Worcestershire sauce and oil. Turn to coat evenly then cover and leave in fridge overnight if possible or 2-3 hours.
2. Remove steaks, reserve marinade. Sprinkle peppercorns over surface and press in.
3. Cook steaks on a hot barbecue, basting occasionally with reserved marinade. Take care as the alcohol may ignite, use a small amount at a time.
4. Turn the steaks once during cooking and cook for 3 - 6 minutes depending on taste then serve with a baked potato and crisp salad.
