Full steam ahead for 2015

The Cumbria Steam Gathering will take place over the weekend of 25th – 26th July 2015. Once again, it is sure to be an event not to miss; the gathering is a loud, colourful and fun-packed event that hosts a great variety of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

steam gathering in cumbria, flookburgh 2015The event features splendid steam engines, vintage commercial vehicles, hundreds of your favourite classic cars, motorcycles, bicycles, agricultural and industrial tractors, farm equipment and stationary engines for your enjoyment.

So you don’t miss out on all this and more, the weekend of Saturday July 25th and Sunday July 26th are the dates to get penciled in your diary.

This year, the amazing Inch Perfect Trials Display team bring their incredible motorbike skills to the event. They are a professional, exciting and dynamic display team who provide breathtaking, two wheeled action-packed entertainment throughout their show.

You can also come and have a ride in the incredible Red Dragon Monster Truck! With its 6.5 litre Chevy V8 engine, strap yourself in for this exhilarating experience as the truck crushes everything in its path.

The long-established craft exhibition will be there once again and after the success of last year’s food hall packed with the local produce of local farms and businesses, it will be back again and even tastier in 2015!

Other popular highlights include Richard Savory’s Sheep Show, Ricardo’s Magic Show and the amazing Pantonic All Stars Steel Band who will be showing off their incredible music skills. The large grandstands and arena exhibits will showcase a constant parade of traditional treasures, while in the working area, demonstrations of ploughing, cultivating, woodsawing, haymaking machinery will be taking place! Also, adjacent to the working area, you will find the North West Lawn Mower Racing Association members kicking up the dust and satisfying their need for speed.

This fun-packed family day out has plenty to keep the children entertained, including magic shows, miniature remote controlled car racing and a traditional fairground that has many vintage rides and attractions, some that are almost 100 years old! As well as this, youngsters aged 13 – 16 can complete a Junior Tractor Driver Training Course, obtaining a certificate of capability (pre-booking is essential for this two day training course).

The entire event is catered for by a variety of food outlets and a fully licensed bar area ensuring that the Cumbria Steam Gathering is a great way to experience all of the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of a marvelous and quintessential Cumbrian weekend.
